In Sound Library Manager you can tick particular libraries for installation and it will display their size. Make sure to download content in chunks no more than Gb. I have the same problem. So have to download a part of the library not more than 15 GB and move this files – after I have done this- from my harddrive to the external hard disc.
The next step is to delete the original file from my internal harddisc to make space for the next download of the sound library and so one. My question is: will I can use the soundlibrary first after all the work is done or is it possible to use it when some content of the library is still on the external harddisk and some on the internal? Will the link with this function”relocate soundlibrary” automatically be established and the program will find all the content in the extern harddisc? After that any additional content downloaded will be installed at the new location but since the internal drive has limited space you will still need to do it in smaller chunks as the original post mentioned.

If I were you I would move photo’s, movies and Logic projects and other bulky files and documents to an external disk, and then you will also have more room to install the Logic library which you should then still move to an external, using symbolic links. If you want to find out which files or folders are the biggest, open a Finder window for your system disk, then hit cmd-2 to get “list view” , then in the columns add “size” if it isn’t already there , then in View options cmd-J tick “calculate all sizes”.
Sometimes it can take a few minutes before all sizes are calculated also when you open a folder by clicking on the little disclosure triangle to the left of them , but then you can click on the “size” column header and the objects will be ordered according to size, so you can quickly spot where the big ones are.

One recent, annoying thing I’ve experienced. Based on yours and some other source-readling, I decided to refine the location of my EXS sample content. Actually, everything is fine: everything loads perfectly. However, I’ve been experiencing an irritating pop-up, which says: ” The link to the sound library location has been modified. That’s the external drive the EXS samples are located on. I then click “Link”, instead of Keep.
Fine, but this alert randomly reappears. I thought clicking “Link” was a permanent fix, as clearly implied in the alert text. Every time I launch Logic is does it, too. Any suggestions on how to stop this will be most appreciated.
How did you move the library — did you do it manually by creating a Symbolic Link to the new location yourself, or did you use Logic’s new option to relocate the library?
Either way, it sounds like Logic is having a problem resolving the link, and since it seems to be aware of it I guess I’d assume that you had Logic create the link.. I’ve not experienced this myself to be honest when I did relocate some components of the factory library I did it with old-fashioned aliases, and it worked fine, as long as I didn’t try to update the library , though I have heard reports of people having various issues with the relocated library.
Unfortunately I’m not aware of any guaranteed solutions — some people who were having issues though I’m not sure if any were the same issue as yours have claimed to successfully resolve them by moving the library back to the default location startup disc and then running the Logic relocate feature again — I don’t know if that worked permanently for them, but it might be worth a try if the alert becomes too troublesome..

So have to download a part of the library not more than 15 GB and move this files – after I have done this- from my harddrive to the external hard disc. The next step is to delete the original file from my internal harddisc to make space for the next download of the sound library and so one.
My question is: will I can use the soundlibrary first after all the work is done or is it possible to use it when some content of the library is still on the external harddisk and some on the internal?

I watched a video on youtube where the guy explained to program a simbolic link that Logic pro x will find all content from the soundlibrary in the new extern harddrive.
You mean with the function of “relocate soundlibrary” this is not more necessary? Will the link with this function”relocate soundlibrary” automatically be established and the program will find all the content in the extern harddisc? After that any additional content downloaded will be installed at the new location but since the internal drive has limited space you will still need to do it in smaller chunks as the original post mentioned. Nobody has mentioned that yet, but it is really not a good idea to have so little free space 14 GB on your system disk you need free space for RAM swapping purposes. If I were you I would move photo’s, movies and Logic projects and other bulky files and documents to an external disk, and then you will also have more room to install the Logic library which you should then still move to an external, using symbolic links.
If you want to find out which files or folders are the biggest, open a Finder window for your system disk, then hit cmd-2 to get “list view” , then in the columns add “size” if it isn’t already there , then in View options cmd-J tick “calculate all sizes”. Sometimes it can take a few minutes before all sizes are calculated also when you open a folder by clicking on the little disclosure triangle to the left of them , but then you can click on the “size” column header and the objects will be ordered according to size, so you can quickly spot where the big ones are.
